Friends of Redeemer Friday

This week Mission Outreach would like to profile our mission partner, Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation.

In 2004, Precious Blood of Reconciliation (PBMR) was established by a group of priests from the Missionaries of the Precious Blood to become part of the community and serve young people and families most impacted by violence, incarceration and structural inequity.

They serve youth, families and community members who reside in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood who are impacted by violence and the criminal justice system.  They also work directly with men and women who are currently incarcerated.

Their mission:  We work as agents of reconciliation to:

  • Build relationships among youth and families impacted by violence.
  • Create safe places where people can experience radical hospitality, hope and healing.
  • Promote a restorative justice approach to conflict and build a sense of community.

You can visit their website for information on the many programs they offer, stories from community members who have participated in their programs, and information on how you can help.

“We can talk about violence prevention strategies, re-imagining the criminal justice system, and the many ways to confront the inequities in our nation, but at the very core has to be a kinship – a culture of hope.”
–Father David Kelly
