Confirmation at Redeemer is an opportunity for students (now, as young as sixth grade!) to begin to explore their faith in ways that are different from anything they have yet experienced. For many, Confirmation is the opportunity for students to explore the promises that were made for many of them when they were baptized. These promises being to live among God’s faithful people; hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper; proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed; serve all people following the example of Jesus; and strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
For others, it is an opportunity to be introduced to a new life of faith alongside their peers. Students will study from the Old and New Testament of the Bible, discover how Jesus teaches us to pray, and learn more about how our Lutheran faith tradition informs how we live out our faith in the world today.
Confirmation at Redeemer is a program where students spend time learning, worshiping, and serving together as the Body of Christ. At the end of their time in the program, students will have the opportunity to participate in the service known as the Affirmation of Baptism. This is where students make a public profession in front of the congregation to continue living out the promises that were made at their baptism. This is also an opportunity for the congregation to make a public profession to continue to support students as they continue to grow in their faith.
